Job Description :
The Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes is seeking a motivated, high energy Crew Member that performs general cleaning and minor maintenance duties in buildings, adjacent walks, and grounds in a clean and orderly fashion. Provides assistance to staff, visitors, parishioners, and other employees as necessary. Perform all duties related to maintaining the general cleanliness and safety of the main Cathedral, adjacent buildings, restrooms, and back offices.
Work Schedule: This is an hourly position, Monday-Friday 8AM – 4PM, with the potential to be available to work some weekends.
Supervision: The Crew Member position reports to the Assistant Plant Manager/Plant Manager.
Key Job Responsibilities:

Performs work according to standard procedure and by the Cathedrals operational schedule.

Cleans rooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, stairways, parking lots, and windows.

Sweep, remove debris, clean spills, and mop floors throughout Cathedral and adjacent buildings.

Regularly check the trash receptacles, emptying as needed, in all areas of the campus.

Collect, consolidate, and separate recycling into proper receptacles.

Clean windows, rails and mirrored surfaces; polish stainless steel surfaces.

Dust fixtures, shelves, and use products as needed.

Maintain the cleanliness of numerous campus restrooms (includes cleaning and policing as needed).

Operate and sanitize all facilities in a safe and proper manner.

Follow and comply with all applicable health and sanitation procedures and adhere to safe work practices.

Dust furniture and equipment.

Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, doors, and sills.

Empty wastebaskets.

Report work accomplished orally to supervisor daily.

Building and grounds cleaning and maintenance work

Requirements:

Ability to carry out detailed oral or written instructions

Ability to effectively communicate with team members and leadership

Ability to acquire job skills with three months of on-the-job training

Disposition to perform other duties as assigned

A team player who takes initiative to help meet work and Cathedral objectives. Communicates effectively with Cathedral staff and parish members. Positively represents the Cathedral, while being respectful, courteous and friendly to parish members, visitors, Cathedral staff and leadership. Demonstrates honest, ethical behavior and maintains the trust of the Cathedral Rector, staff and parish members.

Physical Demands (must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation):

Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds each

Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head

Occasionally push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds

Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists

Walking in and around the facilities and campus grounds with great frequency

Ability to climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation

Must be able to stand/walk for up to 8 hours

Environmental Conditions:

The office environment has minimum hazards, which may include varying temperatures and moderate noise levels.

The campus environment may have varying temperatures, varying workstations, and varying interactions with customers and staff. The noise level is usually moderate.

Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces

Occasionally work occurs in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.

Compensation:
· This position is full time at 35-40 hours per week and compensated at $18.00 per hour.
· Employee will be eligible for health and dental benefits in accordance with Diocesan policy.
· Employee will receive 2 weeks of vacation on an accrual basis.
· After one year of employment, employee will be eligible for the Diocesan retirement plan, detailed in the employee handbook.
