Job Brief
We are looking for an experienced Director of Operations to manage the day-to-day operations of a medium sized company that specializes in making personalized pet ID products. The person in this position will oversee production, shipping and services at our high-volume operations in Ephrata, WA. They will lead a team of 50+ employees, and monitor, direct, and coordinate operations to ensure optimum efficiency and economy of operation. In addition to overseeing day to day operations, the person in this position will help lead the execution of the company’s long-term growth initiatives through advancing systems, data, and infrastructure. The area of responsibility for this role is very wide and thus requires thorough knowledge of various company processes. It’s the Operations Director’s job to make sure the company is running as well as it possibly can, with a smooth efficient service that meets the expectations and needs of the business and its customers.
· Manage all production, shipping, and customer service operations and staff using the most efficient means practical while meeting customer expectations.
· Plan and direct production, shipping, and customer service staff: Motivate employees, assign work, set goals and expectations, provide coaching/performance feedback, and address concerns and grievances.
· Assure all personnel are properly trained to maintain optimal operations and customer service.
· Create, communicate, and maintain quality control policies and standard work procedures.
· Evaluate, identify and support opportunities to drive process improvements that will increase cost-effective output.
· Develop, implement, and report production and shipping metrics.
· Evaluate performance objectives and metrics to determine productivity requirements to achieve customer time, accuracy, and quality expectations
· Control labor costs, and increase production while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality and customer service standards.
· Scheduling and planning to ensure the total production objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
· Work with buyer/inventory planner to set up proper safety stock, to ensure sustaining availability so production runs smoothly.
· Set comprehensive goals for operational performance and growth.
· Oversee customer support processes and organize them to enhance customer satisfaction.
· Communicate and collaborate across functions to pursue opportunities for continuous improvement.
· Define and refine standard operating procedures, policies, and systems to consistently deliver on mission to provide the best products and service to customers.
· Hire, coach, train, counsel, and monitor the performance of all employees in order to ensure top performance.
· Manage employee on-boarding and orientation process.
· Plan and conduct performance reviews and follow-up on performance improvement management.
· Maintaining HR and employee files and records.
· Understand, communicate and uphold company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
· Handle all employee issues with responsiveness, sensitivity, discretion and confidentiality.
· Embrace and guide others through change and continuous improvement, aligning the team to short and long-term priorities, allocating resources, and mobilizing people to achieve targets while consistently monitoring progress and measuring success.
· Lead with integrity, empathy, and curiosity to provide coaching, consistent feedback, and productive insights to help people ‘be at their best’.
· Foster collaboration through effective working relationships and openness to solicit ideas.
· Drive a motivational and fun business environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
· Proven experience as an Operations Director or relevant role.
· Proven success in managing a product organization and track record of business results.
· Demonstrable competency in strategic planning and business development.
· Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics.
· Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
· Outstanding communication and people skills.
· In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles (e.g. supply chain, finance, customer service, etc.).
· Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and set an all-encompassing product vision.
· Experience developing and implementing strategic plans with a proven ability to execute in a fast-growth and fast-scaling organization.
· BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 – $125,000.00 per year
