This full time permanent position resides within the Department of Transportation’s Division of Business Management, Bureau of Information Technology Services and is headquartered at the Hill Farms State Office Building on the near west side of Madison. Position Summary
This position works as the lead Oracle Database Administrator to provide enterprise leadership, direction, and technical expertise for the administration of Oracle database systems within the corporate application development and end-user environments at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). This DBA provides expert guidance for database projects from genesis through completion and maintenance, requiring a strong background of data management principles and techniques, as it relates to performance, security and recoverability of the database.
As a DBA, you will also provide expert technical consulting support for the management, control, tuning, design, upgrade and installation of Oracle databases. This position serves as the technical consultant to review and verify the technical feasibility and integration of new database technologies and the applications that use them. This position will serve as the agency technical expert for all Oracle related technology engagements, leading the database and client software upgrades, DET scheduled patching and coordination for Exadata hardware migration from the agency’s perspective.
Additionally, this position will regularly lead efforts in recommending the formulation of policy, standards, procedures, and guidelines for application developers and their tools and perform quality code reviews for applications utilizing database systems.
Salary Information
This position is in schedule-range (07-32) with an hourly salary of $36.00 – $50.00, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
Job Details

However, it is not anticipated that working outside of Wisconsin (or bordering cities) will be allowed because positions may at times need to report to office locations in Wisconsin on short notice.

Qualifications
Qualified applicants must have experience in all the following:
Experience working as an Oracle Database Administrator in a lead role
Significant experience supporting relational databases
Significant experience with SQL and/or PL/SQL tuning
In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will have experience in one or more of the following:
SQL Server database administration
Expertise in performing Oracle Exadata Cloud services
Expertise in consulting customers regarding database design/standards
