YouthForce Events & Outreach Specialist
The YF Events & Outreach Specialist is responsible for managing YouthForce events such as the Youth Resource Fair and area teen summits. This position will facilitate college and career readiness workshops, assist in outreach, recruitment, and support YF Programs.
This position requires the ability to work in the YouthForce office and facilitate and support workshops, events, and youth in high-pressure situations and/or work environments that change often. This position will be best filled by a passionate, self-motivated leader who is mature, energetic, and able to maintain clear and healthy boundaries while using good judgment and age appropriate communication that is motivational and positive in nature.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate with area High Schools and youth programs for outreach and recruitment
Plan and implement an annual resource fair and other YouthForce events
Facilitate workshops for YouthForce interns and other teens
Outreach to Teen Staff throughout Boys and Girls Clubs of King County
Gather resources and build relationships with area colleges
Contribute to programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success while creating a holistic YF environment that facilitates Youth Development Outcome achievement
Participate in special programs or events as directed by YouthForce Executive Director
Perform other duties as assigned by YouthForce Executive Director on program needs
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with BGCKC staff (professional and volunteer), BGCKC members, YF interns and supervisor. Communicate daily to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions. Collaborate with other Clubs as appropriate.
External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, interns and their parents, partner agencies and companies as necessary to be successful in position and as directed by YouthForce Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
YouthForce is seeking an individual who is assertive, flexible and pays close attention to detail. Additionally, the following experience, knowledge and/or abilities are preferred:
Seeking mature and responsible with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, professional presence, ability to remain calm under stressful situations and maintain strict confidentiality
Strong interest in training, event planning, leadership and mentoring
Must have adequate transportation to and from the Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club, other Boys & Girls Clubs of King County and King County High Schools
Self-starter who can see projects through and works well on a team
Ability to quickly build positive rapport with both adults and youth
Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities at a time
Comfortable speaking in front of others and leading workshops
Understanding of relevant youth development principles that apply to teens from diverse populations and situations including the ability to motivate teens in a positive way
Strong conflict resolution skills and high level of cultural competency, self-awareness, and ability to work with a diverse group of teens and co-workers in 1:1 or group setting
Able to set boundaries with youth and parents
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, TEAMS, PowerPoint, Adobe, Zoom, and Canva
HOURS: Full Time, 40 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work required. LOCATION: Smilow Rainier Vista Boys & Girls Club. Some travel required. REPORTS TO: YouthForce Executive Director FLSA: Hourly, Non-Exempt SALARY: $22-$24 per hour DOE.
