Job Description:
Madison College is hiring an Accounting Specialist to perform accounts receivable work for the college. This work includes the processing of invoices to federal, state and other agencies for student tuition, books and supplies, as well as some general accounts receivable type duties. This position also serves as a member of the Student Financials team and is responsible for general customer service to students, including billing, managing student accounts, banking, answering the student phone line, student, and other general account reconciliations.

This Full Time, (40 hrs per week) hourly position, offers an excellent benefits package including vacation, holidays, health/vision/dental/life insurance options and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS).
Core office hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm, M-F. The position supports limited remote work, per the current College Remote Work policy, which is subject to change.
This position will be opened until filled, with a first review date of October 30, 2022, at 11:59 pm. After this date, the recruitment may close without further notice. Responsibilities Include:
Enter and track third party billing authorizations and purchase orders received from third party agencies into the student financial system, Campus Solutions.
Transfer or assign student tuition and fees being covered a by third party to the appropriate receivable account.
Prepare and submit third party and other general accounts receivable invoices to federal, state and other agencies. (approximately 3,000 invoices per year)
Monitor and reconcile third party receivable and other general ledger accounts.
Respond to inquiries from third party agencies and other staff regarding accounts receivable invoices.
Assist in the preparation and verification of daily deposits, prior to sending to the bank.
Share the responsibility for answering telephone calls and emails on Madison College’s student phone line and student financials email inboxes.
Review and process daily transactions from the college bookstore, including third party payments for textbooks and supplies.
Performs other general ledger account reconciliations, including various receivable accounts, financial aid accounts, and bookstore clearing account reconciliations.

Excellent personal integrity and the ability to professionally handle confidential matters.
Demonstrated skill or ability in the use of financial information systems, enterprise resource planning software (i.e. PeopleSoft, Workday).
Proficient user of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Word).
Impeccable customer service skills and ability to deal with difficult customers by being helpful, courteous, and knowledgeable to callers.
Minimum Qualifications:
1.Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. *Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position.
2. One year work experience.
