Job Overview:
The banquet house person is primarily responsible for being empowered for meeting and maintaining guest satisfaction by creating aesthetically appealing experiences from the moment the guest walks into the convention/banquet area, providing an alluring and visually pleasing atmosphere that will not be forgotten or mistaken.
Responsibilities:
Provide hotel guests with the best in service, courtesy, and care by responding promptly to guest requests, assistance, directions, and other amenities or information to ensure overall satisfaction and repeat business under the direction of the Banquet Captain.
Attend pre-shift meetings to learn daily particulars, including guest and hotel expectations, to ensure consistency.
Supply, replenish meeting rooms with clean glasses and refresh water, and remove trash per BEO or as directed.
Stay informed of function particulars/changes according to the banquet event order BEO or leader direction.
Following a function, reset the banquet room according to BEO or direction given to ensure the readiness for the room for the following function.
Maintain an established cleaning schedule of meeting rooms, pre-function area, and back hallways which may include vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping.
Perform general cleaning and sanitation by using company-approved cleaning agents while adhering to cleaning procedures and instructions for cleaning agents.
Follow all policy, procedures, and service standards and maintain proper use and cleanliness of all banquet equipment and closets/storage areas.
Use a daily checklist to complete projects.
Provide instruction and guidance for guest’s and team member’s safety in fire or other emergencies.
Report all suspicious persons or activities, hazardous conditions, etc., to hotel security department.
Other duties as assigned.
Specific Job Knowledge and Skills:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products, as assigned to adhere to health standards.
Ability to apply OSHA hazardous chemical standards, including chemical cleaning agents, operation of various industrial equipment, understand information such as chemical safety labels and instructions.
Must have knowledge of various types of equipment and set up styles used in the meeting rooms, for example, different table types (round, schoolroom, etc.)
Ability to kneel, stoop, grasp, lift, move, push, and pull multiple tables and chairs and podiums (list not all-inclusive) weighing up to 80 lbs. and at times through a crowded room.
Ability to push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing a maximum of 200lbs.
Sufficient manual dexterity of hands to use/operate banquet, e.g., wrenches, vacuum, etc.
Perform all assigned side-work to include replenishing condiments and restocking banquet shelves with supplies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
