Job Description :
30 Hours per week
The Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Coordinator will organize with and for underserved and underrepresented employees, including people of color, people with disabilities, women, LGBTQIA+, and Indigenous employees. The coordinator will also advocate for educational access, equity, and retention through sustained policies and programming around issues of gender and racial equity developed in collaboration with community resources.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
Plan, coordinate, and attend all DEI events and staff meetings.
Mobilize employees who identify as people of color, women, Indigenous, and LGBTQIA+ and assist in the implementation of efforts to challenge their underrepresentation.
Form ad hoc committees to address specific Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts.
Provide updated DEI content for the Next Doors website, including the intranet, agency calendar other Next Door social media platforms to Development and Director of Operations.
Maintain proper records of all attended meetings.
Track expenses charged to the DEI budget and provide monthly budget reports to the HR Director.
Implement, monitor progress, and recommend adjustments in connection with the Strategic Plan for Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity.
Act as a liaison between Next Door and local communities of color to understand the community needs and to support Next Doors marketing and recruitment programs.
Compile and organize data in response to industry surveys regarding diversity and inclusion, professional development, and recruiting.
Pursue professional development opportunities; attend conferences and professional meetings in order to remain current with diversity and inclusion issues that may affect the school and prepare written reports regarding learning to HR Director.
Gather and effectively communicate on-site resources available to assist employees and leadership in meeting established diversity goals.
Create and maintain database of individuals available at Next Door to provide training and workshops on diversity-related topics; serve as point of contact for Next Door inquiries on diversity training options.
Accountability and Performance Requirement
All staff members are accountable for knowing and performing the responsibilities associated with their individual position in an efficient and effective manner, understanding that each of us plays an integral role in the success of our mission. All staff will support the agency mission, vision, standards of conduct/code of ethics and strategic directions and support administrative decisions. This must demonstrated by maintaining a positive work and environment, by behaving and communicating in an appropriate manner with children, families, coworkers, supervisors and the public while achieving performance expectations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
Two years of experience in diversity related programs OR equivalent education/experience.
Collaborative, resilient, flexible, diplomatic, confident, patient, and possessed of a sense of humor and professional presence.
Participation in seminars about diversity in the workplace is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience developing and implementing corrective action plans.
