Job Description :
PURPOSE:
To maximize the Single Pass Dryer efficiency by producing a product that is effectively reduced to the proper moisture level per customer specifications.
SUMMARY:
Operate the dryer by controlling the temperatures, conveyor speeds, exhaust and intake, fans and preheaters. Receive product from the process area. Maximize through-put levels for packaging. Applying color and flavor as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, safety rules, procedures and good manufacturing practices. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
It is the responsibility of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report food safety and food quality problems or risks to personnel with the authority to initiate action against these said possible risks. The Organization chart indicated key personnel with the authority to take action.

Maximize Dryer Efficiency by Operating Equipment:
Monitor and adjust temperatures to desired heat as directed by Supervisor
Monitor and adjust conveyor speeds to meet process needs
Adjust level bar to maintain a constant level bed depth
Monitor preheaters for proper function
Check intake and exhaust stack for proper operation
Check side flights for damage and notify Supervisor and maintenance of any damage noted
Monitor evap moistures with DA
Communicate Effectively:
Communicate with Lab Techs, Low Moisture Packaging Operator, and Single Pass Process Operator to meet customer’s specifications
Receive information from Supervisor regarding specification
Communicate process information with co-workers
Notify maintenance when problems arise
Communicate need to Process Line Sanitation
Ability to train personnel as required.
Complete Variance Reports:
Maintain dryer variance report
Complete color/flavor variance report
Complete daily variance report and forward to Supervisor at the end of the shift
Report daily usage supplies
Perform Shutdown Procedures:
Ensure all product is removed from dryers
Turn off all fans and burners as required
Remove fan guards and drain caps
Shut down and empty release agent system
Remove release agent from area
Ensure all chain oilers are off
Ensure ingredients are returned to warehouse
Flush color and flavor system
Start pre-clean-up check sheet
Perform Startup Procedures:
Replace fan guards and drain caps
Set up release agent for application to process and/or sunflower oil per customer specification
Turn on all fans, burners, and trays
Ensure chain oilers are filled as needed
Turn on chain oilers
Perform Daily Cleaning:
Maintain dryer area in a sanitary and organized condition at all times
Assist with downtime sanitation/daily sanitation
Observe wash brush effectiveness
Optimize water and cleanup equipment
Ensure Product Quality:
Monitor operation of dryers-troubleshoot as necessary
Adjust temperatures in dryer to achieve and maintain specified moisture ranges as directed by the Supervisor
Recognize and adjust for any equipment not functioning
Investigate and correct quality discrepancies
Adjust level bar at A and B stages per the Process Flow Diagram requirements
Adjust tray speeds to achieve and maintain specified throughputs and directed by Supervisor
Blend / Record (Variance Report & Usage Sheet) / Adjust pump settings for Color & Flavor at Evap Tumbler & Low Moisture.
Maximize Through-Puts:
Adjust totalizer and tray speed to maximize throughputs
Maintain release agent system
Monitor alignment and function of belts and notify maintenance and Supervisor of any deficiencies noted
Check alignment of side flights
Check oscillators for even product delivery
Industrial and Food Safety
Follow proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures/standards.
Follow all Haz-Com and Chemical Safety procedures/standards.
Follow all Good Manufacturing Practice procedures and standards.
Follow all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedure/standards.
Wear required and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at all times.
Identify and address all unsafe conditions and unsafe acts – Report to Supervisor on shift
Follow all other applicable safety rules and regulations.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one-year position-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, write, and speak and understand in English, in order to interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
