Overview:
Job Summary: Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant, the Jr. Property Accountant will be an integral part of
the accounting team at the Company and will be responsible for lease updates, capex identification, property taxes and personal property tax returns. A successful candidate will be charged with actively managing the lease
accounting software and communication with landlords. Candidates for this position will be self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this job but are not intended to be all inclusive. The
essential functions include the most significant tasks and are the essence of why the role exists; removing an essential duty would
fundamentally alter the role.
Maintain and update leases in the lease accounting software, including adding new leases, updates to
existing leases and ownership of annual CAM updates for third party leases
Preparation of monthly rent role and rent reconciliation
Review and analyze accounting records and identify assets for capitalization
Record monthly fixed asset acquisitions to the fixed asset module
Preparation of annual personal property tax returns
Reconcile monthly property tax expense
Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned
Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Strong organizational skills; must be able to manage and prioritize multiple business objectives and projects
with the proper sense of urgency and limited supervision
Must be highly flexible in handling a wide range of duties and projects simultaneously as needs arise and
effectively prioritize issues and timelines
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with an outgoing personality
Experience in effectively communicating with and coaching team members
Highly motivated “self-starter” with the ability to work under strict project timelines
Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
Strong desire to learn and serve as a valuable team member
Ability to work in autonomous, fast moving environment
Required Education and Experience:
Minimum of 1+ years of work experience in an accounting role
BA/BS degree from a four-year college or university
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
