Position Description
The Medical Coding Specialist ensures technical aspects of diagnostic and procedure coding is in compliance with CMS, NCQA, third party payers and other regulatory agencies. As a Medical Coding Specialist you will:
Monitor assigned provider’s documentation and coding
Educate assigned providers on CMS, AMA and HarmonyCares Medical Group documentation and coding guidelines
Educate assigned ongoing education of ICD-10-CM to the providers
Perform provider queries and addendum requests based on CMA, AMA and HarmonyCares Medical Group documentation and coding guidelines
Qualifications
High School diploma
Registered Health Information Technicians (RHIT) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certification
Minimum of 1 year of experience assigning ICD-10 CM, CPT and HCPC’s
Minimum of 1 year of experience with NCCI edits
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Self-audit of work and awareness of coding impact on revenue cycle
