POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager – MPG Continuous Improvement will work directly for the Director – Manufacturing to lead improved performance throughout the manufacturing organization. The position will be responsible for:

Deployment and updating of the Midway Production System. Developing and administering required lean training.
Driving continuous improvement, cost savings, waste elimination, and value stream optimization.
Assisting the plant operations teams in identifying opportunities and leading projects through to completion.
Supervises the Regional Ops Improvement Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Stay abreast of MPS implementation and make necessary changes to the system in order to stay relevant.
Develop and deploy training of lean tools such as DMAIC, 5S, SMED, Kanban/Pull system, etc.

Lead efforts to improve performance on existing plant operations, identify and implement waste elimination opportunities to achieve LTA targets.
Utilize the Lean Tools to drive continuous improvement such as:
Lean cell design, Kanban/Pull Systems, 5S, SMED, Work Combination, Standardized work, Value Stream mapping, Process mapping, etc.
Show/teach the plants how to use these tools to deliver improvements in the business.
Work with Corporate systems group to continually develop reports that help the Plants identify problem areas and track improvements.
Work with Plant managers and Production managers to develop detailed reports, specifying top downtime cause codes, performance inefficiencies, and the action plans to improve performance.
Work cross functionally with Corporate MPG employees regarding policies/procedures to improve business results.
Identify and implement “new to Midway” technologies that result in improved performance and the elimination of waste.
Lead annual Policy deployment initiative for the manufacturing team.
Potential for being temporarily assigned to fill open Plant Manager positions.

JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

BA/BS in Engineering related field preferred.
Plant Manager or senior operations management experience.
Experience working with/implementing Lean concepts.
Strong leadership and project management skills and experience.
Ability to work across multiple departments and levels of the organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment.
Normal shop environment, which includes travel to plant sites; use of personal protection equipment; hazards and conditions typically associated with a manufacturing environment.
