Job Description :
The Continuous Improvement Manager- Multi-site will drive the efforts to improve key business results in Safety, Quality, Efficiency and Cost within the Great Lakes Cheese Manufacturing Network.
Job Responsibilities
Support the Wausau and Plymouth, WI plants annual cost savings goals by developing and implementing an annual project list with specific milestones, cost savings estimates, and resources to implement. Facilitate brainstorming of new ideas, track approved projects to ensure they are completed on time and within scope
Monitor and maintain Wausau and Plymouth key plant metrics, ensuring previous corrective actions are sustained, identifying new trends and opportunities for improvement
Support Wisconsin plant meeting structures support (End of Shift, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly) by providing and maintaining key data as necessary, attending meetings regularly and providing coaching during meetings to ensure scope of meeting is maintained, key actions and owners are identified and issues are escalated
Develop and maintain a daily management system for multiple plants utilizing visual tools to track key metrics on the production floor
Provide input and guidance on new equipment purchases, including building new SOP’s for equipment operation, PM’s, and changeovers
Multi-site mManagement of special projects for Wausau and Plymouth, as assigned to completion, assess results and provide feedback to key stakeholders
Act as a resource and center of excellence center of information for other departments andfor plants, sharing best practices with all GLC plants on improvements
Direct efforts to develop SOP’s, training and standard work for all employees and processes, with a focus on reducing changeover times, reducing unplanned downtime and reducing waste.
Train and coach employees on Continuous Improvement concepts such as: 5S, Root Cause Analysis, Visual Management, Standard Work, SMED, etc
All GLC employees are expected to perform any assignment or job task according to the stated safety policies and procedures
All GLC employees are expected to produce our products in a manner that exceeds the quality and value expectation of our customers and consumers by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in our Safe Quality Food Program
Other responsibilities as assigned by the manager
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operation’s Management (or other technical field) or an Associate’s Degree in a technical field with 5 years or more in lieu of the bachelor’s degree.
In depth understanding of production principles and general plant operation.
Operational experience within a manufacturing setting, including supervision of plant personnel is preferred.
Understanding of Continuous Improvement principles and tools.
Direct experience in making independent decisions based on functional expertise and experience.
Ability to provide leadership, support, communication and direction to various layers within organization from line personnel up to plant management.
Ability to be a self-starter, identifying opportunities for improvement, driving to root cause and implementing sustainable corrective actions
Ability to work within a cross functional organization to recognize and drive improvement opportunities
Ability to handle multiple tasks, troubleshoot and problem solve beyond routine issues.
Proficient Microsoft Office
Preferred Education and Experience
Master’s or graduate degree in Engineering, Operations Management or related field.
SAP experience.
Minitab (or Similar) experience.
Working Conditions
Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
Repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperature of 50-60 degrees F.
Hair nets, ear plugs/muffs, hardhats, and/or safety glasses may be required.
Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.
Product weight: up to 35 lbs.
