Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005 aimed at increasing access to health care in medically underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest.
The University currently offers the degrees of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, Doctor of Physical Therapy, and Master of Arts in Medical Science enrolling over 550 students annually with plans to develop other programs and/or colleges. Interprofessional education partnerships with other universities adds another 100 students to the population. The campus includes 300 employees with academic programming spread over a five state region.
PNWU is located in Yakima, WA, a city of approximately 95,000 located in the south central part of the state near the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains in a major agricultural and outdoor recreation region. General Summary:
The Student Assessment Coordinator is part of the assessment team and is instrumental towards the success of Pacific Northwest University’s assessment activities across multiple health sciences programs. This is a student-facing position that also works directly with faculty and staff to ensure successful delivery of assessments. Timely communication, attention to detail, and sound judgment are requirements of the Student Assessment Coordinator.
The Student Assessment Coordinator assumes a vital role in ensuring accurate information is produced within a deadline-driven environment and protects confidential information at all times. Responsibilities include building, reviewing, and coding performance-based and objective assessments; assigning graders; proctoring assessments; following assessment guidelines; generating reports; overseeing assigned assessment activities; and providing general assessment support for students and faculty.
Essential Job Functions:
Coordinates directly with faculty to build assessments
Reviews assessment items to identify any potential issues related to presentation, content, grammar or structure
Self-directs and communicates timely with faculty, staff, and students to successfully administer assessments
Proctors student assessments, ensuring compliance to assessment process and procedure
Generates and maintains accurate assessment reports for faculty following each assessment
Identifies any abnormalities or potential issues with software or other systems that need to be addressed
Troubleshoots issues on all testing devices for students, faculty, and staff
Appropriately administers assessments to individuals with approved accommodations
Continuously provides quality customer service to all students and employees who need assistance
Understands and adheres to strict confidentiality requirements
Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards
Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU

Experience:
Required: Two years of related experience, preferably in an educational or medical setting. Additional education may be substituted for years of work experience

Strong organization, interpersonal, and planning skills; strong verbal and written communication skills, including timeliness, attention to grammar, clarity, and public speaking; ability to proofread assessment items; strong decision-making skills; ability to work in a team and flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances; ability to problem solve by analyzing issues and creating action plans; ability to manage projects and people, prioritize and self-direct tasks; ability to work with and manage a variety of computer programs and databases; ability to schedule activities and/or meetings; ability to maintain a calm and helpful demeanor during stressful situations; and competence in using Microsoft Office suite.
