Job Description :
Position Summary
The open records administrator analyzes, processes, and responds to public records requests submitted to the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office, in compliance with State law and the policies of the Bullitt County Sheriff’s Office. The open records administrator also processes requests from the Bullitt County and Commonwealth’s Attorney’s offices in relation to court proceedings. This position is also responsible for the Office’s records management program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Serves as the designated open records administrator for the office and as the primary contact for receipt and processing of records request.
· Determines and assess the scope of request and communicates with requestors to identify and define the scope of requests.
· Reviews records gathered pursuant to requests, including applying appropriate redactions consistent with applicable law and/or policy.
· Maintains a strong working knowledge of all software or electronic management systems used for gathering, redacting, and providing records to requestors.
· Maintains public records request log.
· Provides notification to appropriate superiors and legal counsel on complex requests.
· Copies or scan records as needed
· Works to maintain up to date personnel, training files, and other files for the office
· Assists with the Office’s preservation and destruction of public records program in accordance with the Records Retention Schedules from the Kentucky Department of Libraries and Archives.
· Other duties may be assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· An understanding of statues regarding open records requests
· Superior computer skills to navigate a complex file storage system
· Strong analytical Skills
· Willingness to learn new skills as technology evolves
· Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
· Excellent writing skills to compose business correspondence using correct grammar and punctuation and using tone and format appropriate for intended audience.
· Strong organization and time management skills to prioritize a high volume workload with competing deadlines, follow through to solutions, and give attention to detail.
· High School Diploma minimum education required
· This role performs work in an office environment must be able to sit for extended periods, stand, operate personal computers, copier, scanner, access file cabinets, and at times lift file boxes in excess of 20 pounds.

· Salary may vary based on experience
· This is a full time position working 40 hours per week on a Monday-Friday Schedule including paid Holiday’s off.

· $30,000 life insurance coverage paid by the County

Pay: $41,600.00 – $45,760.00 per year
